Nam, Sang Woo is Professor Emeritus and former Dean of the KDI School of Public Policy and Management, and former Executive Secretary of the OECD-Korea Policy Centre. Dr. Nam pursued his Ph.D. in Management: Economics and Finance from Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Nam was also a Senior Research Fellow at the ADB Institute in Tokyo and a visiting professor at University of California, San Diego, Sophia University and National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), Tokyo. He was also an Economist at the World Bank and the Counselor for the Deputy Prime Minister in Korea. In addition, he has been involved in development consulting particularly for Vietnam.

His research focuses on development economics (with emphasis on financial development), monetary and macroeconomic analysis, and corporate government.
